Get to know Madeleine Simonek
Madeleine Simonek is a professor of law and holds the Chair for Swiss and International Tax Law at the University of Zurich. She is Of Counsel in our Taxation Group in Zurich. She has extensive experience in all aspects of tax law, particularly corporate and international tax law. Her special fields are international tax planning, all types of mergers and acquisitions transactions, reorganizations, implementation of commissionaire structures, tax litigation, and tax legal opinions.
Admitted to the Swiss bar in 1989, she graduated as a Doctor of Law from the University of Bern Faculty of Law in 1994. In 2004 she became a professor of tax law at the University of Lucerne in 2009 was appointed as a professor of tax law at the University of Zurich. She is also a Swiss Certified Tax Expert. Madeleine Simonek was formerly a tax partner with a major law firm in Zurich prior to joining our firm in 2004.
She has written several tax books and publications, mainly in the field of corporate taxation and international tax law. She regularly serves as a speaker at national and international congresses, and is a member of the International Fiscal Association and the European Association of Tax Law Professors. She is president of the Swiss Association of Tax Law Professors and board member of the Swiss branch of the International Fiscal Association.
