Philip Wimalasena is an associate in our International Arbitration Group in Zurich. His main areas of practice include international and domestic commercial arbitration and litigation.

Philip studied law at the universities of Bonn, Frankfurt and Lyon. He completed his law studies in Frankfurt (First State Exam, 2009) and his legal clerkship (Referendariat) in Berlin (Second State Exam, 2012). During his studies, Philip clerked for the German Foreign Office, the German Federal Parliament and various international law firms.

Philip holds a doctorate degree in law from the University of Frankfurt (Dr. iur., 2015), a master’s degree in law from the University of Cambridge (LL.M., 2016) and a bachelor’s degree in law from the University of Lyon (Licence en droit, 2007). He is dually qualified as both a German and a Swiss attorney-at-law.

Before joining Schellenberg Wittmer, Philip gained experience in the dispute resolution department of a major international law firm in Frankfurt. He regularly publishes and speaks on international arbitration and litigation issues and is a member of a number of professional associations, including ICC Young Arbitrators Forum, ASA Below 40, DIS 40, Young ICCA and the Zurich and Frankfurt Bar Associations.
