Get to know James U. Menz
James Menz is an associate in our Dispute Resolution Group in Zurich. His main area of practice is international commercial arbitration and litigation. He regularly represents clients in international arbitration and alternative dispute resolution proceedings.
James Menz received his B.A. summa cum laude from St. Olaf College (2000) and his M.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (2001). He graduated with highest honors from the George Washington University Law School in Washington, D.C (J.D., 2005). Prior to joining our firm in 2009, James Menz worked as an associate at Shearman & Sterling LLP in New York, where he gained experience in complex litigations and defending mergers and acquisitions before U.S. and international competition authorities. He also has experience advising clients on conducting internal investigations and designing and implementing compliance programs.
James Menz has published in the areas of international arbitration and litigation, and is a regular contributor to PLC Arbitration's multi-jurisdictional monthly email. He is a member of the Swiss Arbitration Academy's class of 2011 and a graduate of the Foundation for International Arbitration Advocacy's Workshop on questioning of expert witnesses in international arbitration. James Menz is a member of a number of professional associations, including the American Bar Association, the American Society of International Law, the Swiss Arbitration Association, and ICDR Young & International.
