Get to know Roy F. Ryan
Roy Ryan is a partner in our Private Clients Group in Geneva. He practices in the fields of international taxation, international mergers and acquisitions, private equity, venture capital, and representation of private clients.
Before being admitted to the Ohio bar in 1974 and the Maryland bar in 1980, he attended Yale University and graduated in 1968 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He received his law degree from the University of Virginia Law School, where he was elected to the Virginia Law Review, serving on its editorial board and then as its managing editor. He was elected to the Order of the Coif and awarded the Michie Award for excellence in legal writing and oral advocacy.
Roy Ryan began his legal career with a major international U.S. law firm and practiced in the fields of corporate taxation and corporate transactions. In 1987 he moved to Geneva to become that firm’s resident partner in its Geneva office. He became the partner-in-charge in 1993. In 2001 he joined our firm as a partner.
A member of the International Bar Association, he has spoken frequently on topics relating to taxation and corporate transactions. He was president of the American International Club of Geneva (1997 – 1998) and now serves on its Executive Committee and chairs its Development Committee. He also serves on the board of the Tax Chapter of the Swiss-American Chamber of Commerce.
