Get to know Alexander Jolles

Alexander Jolles is a partner in our Dispute Resolution Group and our Private Clients Group in Zurich. His focus is international arbitration and litigation, including enforcement, interim measures and appeals. He serves both as arbitrator and as counsel to parties before ar bitration tribunals, state courts, and regulatory authorities. In addition, he has extensive experience in inheritance matters, trust and estate law, and in art law, including art-related litigation.

Upon graduating from the University of Bern and gaining admission to the bar in Switzerland in 1988, Alexander Jolles spent two years as a foreign associate in two U.S. law firms (1989-1991) before joining our firm in 1991 and becoming a partner in 1998. From 1999 to 2001 he acted as Secretary General of the Claims Resolution Tribunal for Dormant Accounts in Switzerland. Since 2009, he has been a member of the firm’s Management Committee.

Alexander Jolles is on the list of arbitrators of the ICC National Committee for Switzerland and of the World Intellectual Property Organization. He is a member of several leading international arbitration and professional organizations. He is lecturer on international arbitration at the University of Zurich’s LL.M. program in international business law and serves on the board of the Swiss Association of Art Collectors and of various art foundations. He publishes regularly in his fields of spezialisation.
