Samuel Hagenstein-Jost is a Counsel in our Competition Group in Zurich. His main areas of practice are competition law, regulatory matters (in particular in telecommunications, energy regulation, and life science), public procurement law, as well as public procedural law.

Samuel Hagenstein-Jost studied law at the University of Berne (lic. iur. 2003) and was admitted to the Swiss bar in 2005. He then worked as a research and teaching assistant in economic law at the University of Berne. Samuel Hagenstein-Jost has a long-standing experience in competition law and public procedural law. From 2007 until 2009, he gained experience as a legal staff at the Secretariat of the Swiss Competition Commission. In 2012, he received a doctorate degree for his thesis on the status of parties in antitrust proceedings. From 2012 until 2015, Samuel Hagenstein-Jost was an associate in our Competition Group in Zurich and advised clients in competition law and regulatory matters, namely in the energy, telecommunications and life science sector, and represented them in proceedings before the Swiss competition authority as well as the Federal Administrative Court and the Swiss Federal Supreme Court. In public procurement law, he advises procuring entities and bidders in tender procedures and in appeal proceedings. Before re-joining us in 2017, Samuel Hagenstein-Jost was an associate in a law firm in Aarau where he advised and represented clients in court primarily in private and public construction law.

Samuel Hagenstein-Jost is a member of several professional associations, including the Studienvereinigung Kartellrecht e.V., and the Zurich and Swiss Bar Associations.
