Every year, Schellenberg Wittmer recruits promising young trainee lawyers ("avocat stagiaires" or "Substitutinnen/Substituten") whilst they prepare to take the Swiss bar exams. Following the required 12-18-month term, trainee lawyers then have the option to work for a few months in the other SW office (Zurich or Geneva, respectively).
Throughout your 12-month traineeship ("Substitutenjahr") in Zurich or 18-month traineeship ("stage d'avocat") in Geneva, you will work across various practice groups, with different teams of lawyers, giving you valuable first-hand experience in a variety of legal issues commonly handled by an international business law firm. In addition to "on the job" training, we offer numerous educational opportunities, e.g. continuous in-house educational programs (organized by the various practice groups) and special monthly coaching sessions designed to help you prepare for the bar exam.
Have you graduated from university with excellent grades? We are constantly on the lookout for talents wishing to gain practical experience in a challenging, high-powered environment. Command of the respective Swiss national language is a must as is a very good working knowledge of English.
If you are interested in applying to Schellenberg Wittmer’s traineeship program, please email your cover letter, resume, university certificates and references to Stefan Leimgruber in Zurich: firstname.lastname@example.org (and HR coordinator Amanda Döbeli: email@example.com) or to Blaise Stucki in Geneva: firstname.lastname@example.org (and his personal assistant: email@example.com).
