Schellenberg Wittmer is pleased to report that the majority of the Athletes we are representing who were charged with anti-doping rule violations around the Winter Olympic Games - were today completely cleared by the CAS of any wrongdoing.
After having fought for a year for their most fundamental rights to be respected by the IOC, these athletes have been found innocent by the CAS Panels, who upheld their appeals and annulled the decisions of the IOC Oswald Commission. The CAS decision rendered on February 1, 2018 confirms these Athletes were wrongly accused of having been involved in an alleged conspiracy during the Sochi Games.
Out of 39 Athletes represented, 28 in total have been completely cleared of any wrongdoing. Concerning the 11 other Athletes whom maintain their innocence - the CAS Panels overturned their lifetime bans from all Olympic Games that had been imposed by the IOC Oswald Commission, and instead declared them ineligible only for the next edition of the Olympic Winter Games, which will take place in February in Pyeongchang 2018.
