His lecture will be on the topic “International Arbitration and Independence – Off the Beaten Track”. Elliott will examine the duties of independence of others than arbitrators, namely counsels, experts and arbitral institutions. The lecture will close with some highly provocative - and possibly unpopular - thoughts on the most difficult form of independence there is: independence from one's self. More details on the lecture can be found here.
The Clayton Utz – University of Sydney International Arbitration Lecture is one of the most prestigious annual international arbitration lectures. This year's lecture marks the 15th anniversary of the event. Schellenberg Wittmer Ltd is delighted that Elliott has been asked to give this lecture, which confirms his very high-level recognition in the arbitration world.
