Paul Gully-Hart & Peter Burckhardt: Panelists at the Inaugural IFLR White Collar-Crime Forum 2017 in London

Paul Gully-Hart and Peter Burckhardt were both on the panel at the inaugural White Collar Crime Forum (co-sponsored by Schellenberg Wittmer) in London, UK on the 28th of June. The 1st White Collar Crime IFLR Forum 2017 served as an interactive forum discussing anti-corruption and anti-bribery regimes.

A series of panels on the day discussed how to effectively manage fraud investigations and interpret anti-corruption and anti-money laundering directives. Attendees, consisting mainly of in-house counsel, were also presented the challenges associated with the failure to prevent tax evasion and debated the legislative impact of Brexit on reporting requirements.

Paul Gully-Hart and Peter Burckhardt led the panel on "Bribery and corruption – promoting coordinating and cohesion." Joined by Anna Heimbichner, (Vice President, Legal Counsel Barclays) and Audrey Koh (Associate, Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flo), they moderated a discussion on the UK Bribery and Corruption regime, the abolishment of the Serious Fraud Office and an update on the law of privilege post ENRC judgment.

The panel focused on the prominent Odebrecht settlement agreement that Schellenberg Wittmer acted as Swiss lead counsel in - demonstrating how law enforcement agencies interact in a multijurisdictional context.
